Blue Sky Program

Our comprehensive Gifted and Talented program is referred to as the Blue Sky program. We have a full time teacher who coordinates and teaches the Blue Sky Program from Kindergarten to Year Six.

The Blue Sky Program is the umbrella term that we use at Mount Sinai College which incorporates all the programs for the high ability and gifted students. Through ability grouping and differentiation, acceleration our teachers all work hard to ensure the high ability and gifted students are adequately challenged in all subject areas through the school week.

Support

Learning Support services at Mount Sinai College aims to provide support for children, their teachers and parents, in striving to achieve their best in all areas of development – emotional, social and academic. Integral to each child’s development is the teacher’s ability to work with a child holistically - directly and indirectly, with parents, all relevant teachers and ‘in house’ and out of school therapists.

Understanding children in light of their needs and requirements, strengths and weaknesses, interests, dreams and ambitions provides the elements of a successful education that is supportive in terms of developing a sound knowledge of fundamental English and mathematics skills as well as broadening horizons for the future.

The Learning Support Team offers:

  1. Reading Plus
  2. Specialised spelling program
  3. Reading Corner
  4. Thinking Kids (social skills)
  5. Academic support
  6. Counselling support
  7. Speech therapy and occupational therapy
